If you are a freelance writer like me, I am sure you know my pain. Not a lot of people understand freelancing and how it’s exactly done, and that means I get bombarded with a lot of boring questions every day. Sometimes, I really feel like creating my on FAQs on this website and share that link with everyone in my contact.
Here is a fact guys- asking too many questions is just downright annoying, especially when it doesn’t really matter to you. I am all for helping people who want to become a writer but if you are just asking things out of curiosity, I had appreciate if you kept your questions to yourself.
Here are 7 questions every freelance writer is tired of answering
1- So, how much money do you make?
Whether I am a freelancer or not, asking how much money someone earns is just rude. Every day, I meet at least 10 people who ask me this question. I don’t even tell my parents exactly how much I earn, why should I tell you?
2- You earn just by sitting at home and doing nothing?
If you think working for 10-12 hours every day is called doing nothing, then I probably do nothing. I work hard, day after day and just because I do that sitting at home, doesn’t mean I do nothing.
3- I could write too. Can you hook me up with some of your clients?
Firstly, I am pretty sure you can’t. You just want to try it like you tried Photoshop, and failed. Also why would I hook you up with ‘my’ clients? Find your own, dude!
4- You wake up anytime you want and work on your own schedule?
There is a small thing called a ‘deadline’, which you have to stick to if you are a professional. I might wake up late but I always make sure all the deadlines are met. And for that, I have to create an extensive schedule. (I check Google Calendar more than I check my WhatsApp).
5- Don’t you get bored sitting at home all alone?
I am so much engrossed in my work that I never feel alone. Because I love my work, and also because I have my dog to entertain me. And it’s still better than being in an office around people I don’t even like
6- How do you sit in front of your laptop the whole day?
That’s literally a part of my job. I have to write on my laptop. Don’t you sit in front of your system the whole day in your office?
7- Will you work for free? We will give you credits.
Dear clients who do not want to pay, I don’t need your credits. If you cannot pay, I cannot give you any content.
